PERCULIAR TREASURE, FINANCE TEAM LEAD (2024-2025)

Can you introduce yourself and your course of study?

Hello, I'm Olawepo Peculiar Treasure, a purpose-driven and dedicated recent graduate of Accounting from the University of Ilorin. With a passion for service, I have volunteered with the Unilever Foundation and led GoLearn, an educational initiative focused on improving learning outcomes and promoting financial literacy.

How did you become the Finance Team Lead?

I became the Finance Team Lead through a combination of my academic background in Accounting, leadership abilities, and experience in managing financial projects. I have consistently demonstrated strong decision-making skills and the ability to lead teams toward achieving their objectives.

In a few words, describe your experience as Team Lead.

Being Team Lead has helped me sharpen my leadership and communication skills. I’ve learned to delegate tasks efficiently, motivate my team, and deliver results. This role also taught me the value of strategic planning and collaboration.

Any challenges faced?

One of the challenges I faced was balancing multiple responsibilities while ensuring the team's goals were consistently met.

How did you handle them?

I addressed challenges by working closely with my team to brainstorm solutions and implement effective plans. This collaborative approach allowed us to leverage each other's strengths and overcome obstacles together.

How did you manage your schoolwork alongside your role as Team Lead?

To manage both, I set clear priorities and goals. I delegated effectively and maintained a balanced schedule that allowed me to fulfill my academic commitments while leading the team successfully.

How did you collaborate with other ambassadors or teams?

I collaborated with other ambassadors and teams by maintaining open communication, sharing best practices, and aligning our goals to achieve a shared vision.

Did you achieve your set goals for the team?

Even though we did not achieve all our goals, we made significant progress and gained valuable insights. We identified areas for improvement and adapted our strategies for better results in the future.

What is the highlight of your team’s service?

One major highlight of our service was collaborating with other campus organizations to host programs that benefitted the entire student community. This helped us drive more impact and promote a culture of service and volunteerism.

What was the most enjoyable aspect of leading a team?

The most enjoyable part of leading a team was the personal growth it brought. I learned how to inspire, empower, and work alongside others to accomplish shared goals.

Recommendations for future Team Leads:

I encourage future Team Leads to engage their communities by inviting industry professionals to speak with students and share their knowledge. This approach helps build a supportive and dynamic community focused on growth, learning, and success.
